Cut sponges are able to regenerate themselves when only a piece of sponge is cut off and taken, leaving behind enough sponge material to grow or regenerate a new sponge.

Microwave Magic:
A common appliance can help you disinfect your bath sponge. Like kitchen sponges, you can put a wet/moist bath sponge with no metal pieces in the microwave for up to three minutes. The high temperature will help kill up to 99% of bacteria, mold and viruses and discourage future growth, thus extending the life of your sponge.
